Baisa calls for alternate ways to solve water issues
WAILUKU, Hawaii – The Water Resources Committee on Wednesday at 9 a.m. is scheduled to receive a presentation from the Dept. of Water Supply on alternative ways to mitigate water issues in the county, Committee Chair Gladys Baisa announced today.
“We will be discussing what other legislation we can enact to help residents Upcountry receive water,” Baisa said. “Research and planning for the Upcountry water meter issue may take time but the committee can always look at other creative ways to account for every drop of water.”
Baisa said she is working with the department to assess the potential reuse of gray water, review the allowed number of water fixture counts per home and evaluate the efficacy of water catchment tanks to promote water conservation.
“I encourage concerned members of the community to reach out and submit testimony,” Baisa said.
