Duties:
- Archaeology, preservation of cultural resources, and perpetuating the Hawaiian culture.
- Issues relating to personnel services.
- Promotion of community self-reliance, circular economic systems, and systemic equality.
- Support of a feminist economic recovery plan as a foundational development.
- Energy issues, including solar, geothermal wind, biomass, hydropower, wave energy production, biofuel and synthetic fuel production, power systems, and energy-efficient technologies for building.
- Oversight of the Department of Personnel Services; the Office of the Mayor and the Office of Economic Development as they relate to energy and climate change; the Principal Archaeologist; and, effective July 1, 2024, the Department of ʻŌiwi Resources.
- Oversight of any other County department as necessary, except that the review of the budget of any County department should be handled by the committee with specific oversight of the department unless that committee chair requests this committee’s assistance.
- Implementation of the following General Plan objectives:
- Preserve Local Culture and Traditions.
