At the request of constituents, Councilmember Don Couch will introduce a bill at the March 11 Council meeting to prohibit alcohol consumption at Kamaole Beach Park II. He intends for the bill to be referred to a standing committee.
Proposed resolutions to be introduced include the approval of property acquisition for the Wailuku municipal parking lot, approval of location and boundaries for Makawao cemetery, consideration to increase the number of early walk-in voting locations, and urging the administration to adopt a unified definition of agriculture
A bill to facilitate the use of $1 million Economic Development Revolving Fund is up for first reading. The Council may also adopt a resolution to authorize acceptance of a beach wheelchair and a resolution to accept a lease of property on Molokai for the Kaunakakai Little League.

A resolution will also be considered recognizing March as Red Cross Month in the County of Maui.
Several bills on second and final reading include budget amendments for the Mokuhinia Ecosystem Restoration Project, equipment for the Kahului Fire Station, the “circuit breaker” tax program, additional cashier for the Department of Water Supply and funding for Civil Defense and the Kihei Police Station.
The March 11 Council meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Council Chamber in Wailuku. It will be aired live on Akaku Ch. 53 and testimony for agenda items will be accepted in person and by telephone at the Council’s Hana, Lanai and Molokai offices.
