West Maui town hall posponed indefinitely for emergency services at Lāhainā Civic Center

LĀHAINĀ, Hawaiʻi (August 10, 2023)—Councilmember Tamara Paltin announced today that tonight’s West Maui town hall is postponed indefinitely to provide space for emergency services at the Lāhainā Civic Center Social Hall.

The town hall was originally scheduled to occur tonight at five o’clock to discuss ongoing projects in West Maui. Because of ongoing fire emergency, the community’s focus has shifted to provide the necessary space and services to those in need, Paltin said.

“I offer my condolences to those who experienced loss during this difficult time for our community here in West Maui,” said Paltin, who holds the council seat for the West Maui residency area. “We have a long road ahead, but so many people are stepping up to take care of each other.”

Emergency personnel and volunteers continue to receive and transport donations, and emergency shelters remain open. To make donations to reputable community organizations, visit https://www.mauicounty.us/community/support/.
