Councilmember U‘u-Hodgins to host Pāʻia Town hall July 26
PĀʻIA, Hawaiʻi (July 19, 2023)—Councilmember Nohe Uʻu-Hodgins announced today she will host a town hall July 26 at 6 p.m. at Pāʻia Community Center to receive presentations from county departments and hear from residents on area projects and programs.
She said discussion topics include Alfred “Flako” Boteilho Sr. Gymnasium improvements, environmental and safety issues at Holomua Road, Pāʻia Town public-safety programs and the Maui Planning Commission’s new coastal-development rules. Uʻu-Hodgins said she encourages residents to attend the town hall and participate in a Q&A following the presentations.
“It’s important to me to be present in the community and have meaningful conversations on constituent concerns,” said Uʻu-Hodgins, who holds the council seat for the Makawao-Ha‘ikū-Pā‘ia residency area. “My staff and I will continue to work closely with the administration and the community to create a safer environment for everyone.”
Uʻu-Hodgins said the town hall will include an update on Pāʻia Clean and Safe. The program was created to maintain public spaces, provide citizen assistance and improve the safety of Pāʻia Town’s sidewalks.
The Maui Police Department will present on a new initiative to address the concerns of residents and business owners along Baldwin Avenue and Hāna Highway in Pāʻia, Uʻu-Hodgins said.
This event will be held in person at the Pāʻia Community Center’s meeting room at 252 Hāna Hwy.
