Saturday’s Lanai Community Plan hearing now expected to start at 12:30 p.m.
WAILUKU, Hawaii – The Maui County Council’s public hearing on the Lanai Community Plan scheduled at the Lanai Senior Center tomorrow is now expected to start at 12:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter, Council Chair Mike White announced today.
A special council meeting on the Lanai Community Plan, also scheduled for tomorrow, is expected to begin immediately after the public hearing.
The public hearing and council meeting were scheduled to start in the morning. Transportation logistics are the cause of the delay, White said.
“I want to thank the Lanai residents for their understanding,” White said. “We appreciate everyone’s kokua in getting the word out about the schedule change.”
Pending before the council is legislation establishing the first comprehensive Lanai Community Plan update since 1998. The community plan is intended to guide the island’s social and economic development for the next two decades.
