If you are registering to vote, your application must be postmarked to the City or County Clerk where you reside.
To get more information and to download the forms, visit the Office of Elections website.

Are residents allowed same-day registration this November?
No. Gov. Neil Abercrombie signed Act 166, which would allow late registration on the day voters head to the polls, but the same-day voting registration won’t begin until the 2018 elections to give state election officials time to phase in the program.

Interested to volunteer?
Do more than just vote – become an integral part of the election process by volunteering as a precinct official.

The Office of the County Clerk is recruiting election workers to staff polling places and other election facilities for the general election. Volunteer workers assist voters through the election process and perform other tasks to ensure the integrity of local elections. Training is provided. Volunteer stipends start from $85 per election day.

BALLOT QUESTIONS

Here are the proposed charter amendments by the Maui County Council and amendment to the Maui County Code by initiative petition proposed by the SHAKA Movement.

BALLOT QUESTION – MAUI: Council: Affordable Housing Fund
Shall the Charter be amended to extend through fiscal year 2021 the requirement that two percent (2%) of the certified real property tax revenues be appropriated into an affordable housing fund to be used for the provision, protection, and expansion of affordable housing and suitable living environments for persons of very low to gap income?

BALLOT QUESTION – MAUI: Council: Penalties
Shall Section 13-10 of the Charter be amended to increase the current maximum penalty that may be imposed for violations of any provisions of the Charter and violations of ordinances and rules having the force and effect of law from $1,000 or one year’s imprisonment, or both, to $25,000 or one year’s imprisonment, or both?

BALLOT QUESTION – MAUI: Voter Initiative: Genetically Engineered Organisms
Should the proposed initiative prohibiting the cultivation or reproduction of genetically engineered organisms within the County of Maui, which may be amended or repealed as to a specific person or entity when required environmental and public health impact studies, public hearings, a two thirds vote and a determination by the County Council that such operation or practice meets certain standards, and which establishes civil and criminal penalties, be adopted for Maui County?
