Maui County Council updates its meeting schedule
WAILUKU, Hawaii—The Maui County Council has posted an updated schedule for council meetings and for meetings of the eight standing committees for the rest of the 2021-2023 term, Chair Alice L. Lee said today.
The Affordable Housing Committee, chaired by Councilmember Gabe Johnson, and the Human Concerns and Parks Committee, chaired by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Tasha Kama, have swapped their regular meeting slots, Lee said, with Johnson’s committee now meeting on Thursday afternoons and Kama’s on Monday afternoons. Lee said committees typically meet Monday-Thursday prior to council meetings on the first and third Friday of each month as shown at MauiCounty.us/2022-council-calendar.
“The council and its committees do their best to follow a predictable schedule to make it easy for members of the public to keep tabs and watch or testify at our meetings,” said Lee, who holds the council seat for the Wailuku-Waihe‘e-Waikapū residency area. “But it’s also important to recognize that meetings aren’t officially set until agendas are posted six or seven days in advance.”
Live testimony at council and committee meetings can be provided from anywhere by logging on to a videoconference site or calling a designated phone number. The videoconference site and designated phone numbers are listed on meeting agendas, along with sites for in-person testimony and instructions for submitting written testimony.
