Council reappoints county clerk and deputy county clerk
WAILUKU, Hawaiʻi (Nov. 8, 2024)—Maui County Council Chair Alice L. Lee announced today that County Clerk Moana Lutey and Deputy County Clerk Richelle Thomson have been reappointed to their positions.
Resolution 24-58, FD1—reappointing the county clerk and deputy county clerk—was adopted Oct. 25, goes into effect Jan. 2 and applies for a six-year term. Lutey and Thomson have been serving the public for many years, working as County of Maui employees for 28 and 13 years respectively, Lee said.
“I am grateful for their wealth of knowledge, professionalism and their dedicated service to the people of Maui County,” said Lee, who holds the seat for the Wailuku-Waiheʻe-Waikapū residency area. “I look forward to seeing Moana and Richelle continue in their roles.”
The Office of the County Clerk supports the Maui County Council in maintaining public records and making the records accessible to the public, Maui County legislative and executive branches and other government agencies. The office is also responsible for conducting council meetings and helping the state Office of Elections in upholding election requirements, implementing programs to increase voter registration and participation and conducting elections.
Lutey and Thomson, both attorneys, assumed their current positions last year. To view the resolution, visit the council’s website, mauicounty.us.
