Council plans for August announced
WAILUKU, Hawaiʻi (July 31, 2024)— Chair Alice L. Lee announced today that the next Maui County Council meeting is planned for Aug. 13 at 9 a.m. and will be online, with in-person testimony accepted at the Personnel Services Conference Room on the County Building’s sixth floor.
The Council Chamber on the eighth floor remains closed to the public as election officials use it for the Aug. 10 primary election and any necessary post-election work, such as recounts. The month’s second council meeting is planned for Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. and will be online with in-person testimony in the Chamber.
“We appreciate the public’s efforts to remain involved in the county’s legislative process by reading agendas and offering testimony, even as our normal schedule is altered,” said Lee, who holds the seat for the Wailuku-Waiheʻe-Waikapū residency area. “We will continue to provide updates on further changes to the council’s meeting schedule and locations.”
Committee meetings are planned for some days next week, with in-person testimony in the Planning Conference Room in Kalana Pākuʻi’s first floor, adjacent to the County Building. Committees won’t meet Aug. 8 in recognition of the Maui wildfires’ one-year commemoration.
